Evans and Gibbs in possible return to Griffin Park?

Last updated : 02 August 2007 By
According to a reliable source, there is speculation that former captain, Paul Evans and defender, Paul Gibbs, maybe interested in a return to Griffin Park.

Evans: Popular with supporters
Now at Bradford City, former captain Evans, who has two full international Welsh caps to his name, was an extremely popular player amongst the Bees' supporters during his time at Brentford, netting 34 goals in his 155 appearances, after joining for £110, 000 from now Nationwide Conference club, Shrewsbury Town.

However the combative 28-year-old Evans did not really settle in Yorkshire following his free transfer move last August, and only appeared 16 times for the Bantams during the 2002/03 campaign.

Indeed, Evans had a spell on loan at Steve McMahon's Nationwide Second division Blackpool earlier this year, featuring in the Tangerines' 1-0 victory over the Bees at Bloomfield Road in February.

Meanwhile, 30-year-old Gibbs left Griffin Park for fellow Nationwide Second division outfit, Barnsley, in March 2002 after completing 67 appearances for the Bees spread over three years and played 23 league games for the struggling Tykes last season, scoring once.

Whilst it may be fair to say Brentford could do with more experience within the squad, it remains to be seen whether either player will return to the West London club.

The Bee Hive editor would like to express his thanks to Jak Linsell for sending in this story and agrees with the comments made regarding the relative merits of the players' possible return.
