I stuck with Brentford because they were the nearest and the first team I identified with.
This all started in the forties so I'm still waiting for the lads to make it back to the top division after 56 years of waiting and suffering. Come on Brentford!!!
Funny how the status of the teams from that time remains unchanged in the back of your mind. In those days Notts Forest, Crystal Palace, Watford, Ipswich Town, Norwich City, Southampton, Stockport, Rotherham, Crewe etc were all minnows in the Third Division North or South. Wimbledon was in the amateur Isthmian league along with Corinthian Casuals, Clapton and Romford.
