A Q and A with...

Last updated : 11 April 2005 By Smallsy
Tuesdays game is a massive one for both teams, Brentford need a win to make the most of their two games in hand whilst Tranmere are clinging onto the faint hope of an automatic promotion place, this week i spoke to Richard Ault for his views on the game......

1. Tell us a bit about yourself; Name, age, how long a fan of your club etc...

Richard Ault, 22 from the Wirral. Been supporting Rovers for as long as I can remember, probably 14 or 15 years.

2. What was the first football match you went to and what was the score?

Can't remember the specific match, but I am pretty sure it would be a Friday night at Prenton Park in the old Fourth Division. A game against Lincoln sticks out for some reason, no idea if it was my first though.

3. What is the best and worst match you have attended?

In terms of best, Tranmere fans have been spoilt over the past decade or so and so its tricky to pick one. It would be out of the Bolton Wanderers Play Off final win in 1991, Everton 0-3 Tranmere in 2000, Tranmere 4-3 Southampton, and Tranmere 3-0 Bolton in 2000. Theres probably many more I'm missing.

4. Where do you expect to finish this season?

Looking at it now, third I think is looking likely.

6. How did you do last season?

So-so. Bit of an up and down season, but we finished strongly and just missed out on the play-offs (8th)

7. WHich player should our team be watching out for?

There can be a few. The main one is Iain Hume, but if they are on form and playing then Ryan Taylor, Chris Dagnall and Theo Whitmore can turn matches.

8. Which player of ours should your team be wary of?

Isiah Rankin always seems to do well against Tranmere since his Bradford City days. I also rate Deon Burton highly.

9. What is your team's main strengths/weaknesses, backroom staff etc...

The strengths have got to be the wings I think, or the right one at least. We also have pace upfront when Hume and Dagnall play. Ian Goodison has played the season out of position at left back and so I'd say that is a major weak point for us at times.

10. Make a prediction for the upcomming game between the two sides..

2-1 Rovers.

Thanks once again to Richard, great to hear the fans voice as always. Next we will be hearing from a Bradford fan before saturday's potential pre-playoff encounter.
