A Q and A with...

League One's massive clash between top side Southend and fourth placed Brentford could go a long way to deciding whether or not the Bees and the Blues go up automatically or have to hit the jackpot in the lottery that is the playoffs in abid to reach the championship.

As a build up we hear from a very confident Southend fan ahead of tonight's game.

Tell us a bit about yourself? name, age, how long you've supported the club?

My name is James Davies, i'm from Leigh-on-Sea aged 20 and I've supported Southend for fourteen years.

First match attended?

Southend vs Oxford in 1993, i think it was 2-0 to Southend. (Sir) Stan Collymore was on the scoresheet that day.

How do you think your club is progressing this season, under achieving or over achieving?

We're doing quite well!!! Considering we have the smallest squad in the League a second sucessive promotion looks on the cards! Dreamland!

Are you happy with your manager and backroom staff?

Absolutely, Steve Tilson is the best young manager to come through the ranks in this country in a while. Paul Brush also makes a superb assistant.

Are there any Southend players Brentford should look out for?

Obviously Freddy Eastwood, by far and away our best striker. In midfield we have Mark Gower and David Bentley, both are goal getters. At the back Adam Baratt is a local lad and he bangs in his fair share of goals, doesnt mind going through people to get the ball either.

How do you think Brentford will do this season?

As usual, they will be there or there abouts. they were unlucky last year with the playoffs, but I'm sure they will progress futher this season, depending on how DJ Campbell's departure affects them.

Which Brentford player should Southend be most fearful of? if any?

Lloyd Owusu, we tried to sign him at the start of the campaign, but he decided to go back to Brentford, we might struggle as Southend normally struggle with big target men. Jay Tabb also in midfield seems to be winning a lot of plaudits and he could be dangerous.

What percentage chance of us playing each other again next year?

I'd like to say very high, hopefully the game will be a Championship fixture!

Prediction for game:

I think that the result at Roots Hall has little bearing on this game, I expect it to be tight because of the positions of both clubs in the table. At a push I'll say a 2-1 Blues victory, up the Blues!!!

Thanks to James Davies, hopefully we will be recieving more comment following the game tonight.
