Allen said,
"I have decided with the help of my staff that Ricky Newman will be the Team Captain for the coming season."
After signing on a free over the summer Ricky takes over from Stuart Talbot who departed to Boston earlier this month.
The boss descriped Newman as a 'single minded, determined and hungry, he also said,
"He has experience and all our younger players will learn from him. He was delighted when I told him and I'm sure he will do a grand job leading the team"
The man himself said,
"It is an honour to be asked by the gaffer to be captain, Ive been the captain at other clubs but not on a regular basis. I'm looking forward to the season and will now be leading by example"
Allen also announced that the vice captain will be Michael Turner, Martin said that he deserved the role because he has all the respect of his team mates and he has been consistent in his performances and is getting better.
Allen named the club captain as Michael Dobson saying,
"He has a history with the club and has been here for a long time and done a fantastic job. He is a fine ambassador for the club on and off the pitch and his pre season performances have proved to me he is back to his best"
