An impressive Brentford side today dispatched a disapointing Walsall team in League One today as Griffin Park saw goals galore on a cold day in West London.

With the loss of Dudley Campbell and being placed six points adrift of leaders Southend the Bees delivered a performance they had been promising to give all season, ufortunately for Paul Merson his side didn't show up or even test Stuart Nelson and were well beaten.

What the manager said?

Martin Allen was thrilled with the performance of his red and white stripes,

"It was set up to be a tough game but we made it easy on ourselves by playing very well"

"Every single player today put in a top class performance and they deserved the resounding result they achieved."

Promising that his Bees will be relentless in the rest of the season he said,

"This is the time when complacency must not set in, we will be ready for the next game we play and we haven't a thought about achieving promotion or finishing top of this League."

What the players said?

Returning Kevin O'Connor was delighted with the teams play today,

"We did the simple things excellently today and I think the game was made to lok easier than it was. We still had to go out and beat what was put in front of us"

Another returning player, Darren Pratley also spoke saying,

"For myself personally it was great to be back. Hopefully we can put a run together and start clawing our way back up with the leaders."

What the fans said?

Chris Doyle speaking on BBC's 606 said,

"Brentford fans take their hat off to Martin Allen he's an excellent character and has done an excellent job"

On the game itself Doyle said,

"We played Walsall off the park and totally deserved what we got."

A disapointed Walsall fan said,

"This has been coming for a long time. Our team isn't good enough and Brentford exposed our weaknesses. they are an excellent team and much credit should go to them for punishing our bad defending."
