League One Players of the Season: Billy Sharp

Joining the promoted Scunthorpe in August 2005 from local rivals Sheffield United, Billy Sharp made a quick start in winning friends as he scored on his Irons debut against Nottingham Forest.

Helping his team build on a solid base for the season Sharp's formidable partnership with Andy Keogh has been a major reason for the clubs success in their first league one campaign.

Working incredibly hard for the team and scoring all different kinds of goals, he provides the opposition with a tough task of shackling him for ninety minutes. At only the age of 19 Sharp is certain to be one to look our for in the future as Scunny try to build on an solid foundation in their new division.

Alongside the experience of Peter Beagrie the young man leads the line well and has become a target for Championship clubs over the last 12 months.
