Struggling to find a place in the team when he first joined the League One club, Barnsley's Nick Colgan has gone from strength to strength in 2006 becoming part of an impressive Barnsley side battling for promotion.

With the best defensive record in the League at home and the highest number of clean sheets it is obvious to see why Colgan joined Barnsley so highly rated from Premier League Champions Chelsea at the beginning of his career.

On loan in Scotland it was difficult to see how Nick would fit into plans at Barnsley but some impressive saves and a run of games without conceeding goals quickly helped him to become the number on stopper not just at Barnsley but prehaps even in League One.

Bringing defensive stability at just the right moment to help Barnsley spring into action, Colgan has assured that his club are challenging around the playoffs and no matter what team they face, the opposition will have to be at their best to beat the Scottish keeper.
