League One Preview - Brentford Vs Doncaster: 25th March

Last updated : 24 March 2006 By Smallsy
Defeated in their last two games, Brentford will be looking to revive their League One fortunes with a comprehensive victory against up and down Doncaster at Griffin Park tomorrow.

Playing away recently, the Bees drew with their latest opponents 0-0 in a game which could have gone either way.

Team News - Brentford
Brentford boss Martin Allen may make changes after their defeat against Gillingham, with midfielder Eddie Hutchinson fit to play after a knock. Defender Kevin O'Connor (ankle) is still out and Oli Skulason is not yet ready to return after a long lay-off.

Doncaster could be missing seven players with David Wheater and Paul Green both nursing foot injuries. Paul Heffernan (groin), Richard Offiong (hamstring), Andy Warrington, Barry Richardson and Nick Fenton are all out.

Recent Form
Since the date the two sides met in early March both clubs have suffered some what from an extended cup hangover.

Since being knocked out of the FA Cup the Bees have suffered from somewhat of a loss of form. Recently recovering to two wins in two games, after drawing at Doncaster, the Bees have lost to both promotion candidates Swansea and struggling Gillingham.

Since being knocked out of the League Cup by Arsenal, Doncaster have not won their previous two away games, the club are also six without victory in the time period since playing Brentford. With five draws and a loss in the last few Rovers will be looking to recover to fulfil the potential which saw them named at the beginning of the season as one of the favourites for promotion.

Key Player - Brentford
Stuart Nelson: As the Bees appear to be leaking goals a plenty at the moment and not scoring too many. It may be up to goalkeeper Nelson to help the ailing defense and prevent a repeat of the last two games which has seen them beaten by the old goal on both occasions. As an excellent and proven goalkeeper Nelson has suffered from inconsistency this year which has raised questions about his ability, however an excellent performance on the weekend, combined with a clean sheet could do Brentford and their promotion chances the world of good.

Key Player - Doncaster
Sean Thornton: Coming into his own as a first teamer in recent months, Sean Thornton has all the atributes to play at the top level of English football. Signed from Sunderland in the lose season the tireless midfielder has been an excellent addition to the league one club with his long range shooting and passing giving Rovers a different dimension. A good performance from him would do both his club and his own personal chances of finishing the season on a high note.

Keys to Victory - Brentford
Keeping a clean sheet
Taking their chances
Keeping the tempo high

Keys to Victory - Doncaster
Taking the heat out of the game
Defending well
Controlling the midfield battle

Match Prediction - With both sides midly off form, expect a highly charged but not asthetically pleasing game taking place. With the home crowd behind them Brentford should have enough in the tank to take home the three points but the odd goal, but if D6ncaster score expect a frustrating afternoon as a home fan and a 1-0 victory for Doncaster.
