Two well respected young English managers suffered a hard battle to reach round six this season. In the end the more experienced, Chalton's Alan won through. Speaking to the press he said,

"We set about it in the right way. We knew what to expect from Brentford and we did a good job."

"The early goal settled us and the second one killed them off coming right on half-time."

"We had other opportunities to make it more comfortable but, had they scored a bit earlier, then we could have been in for an anxious time."

Defeated manager Brentford's Allen said,

"We conceded two goals at horrendous times but after we had let one in so early, we did well.

"We certainly didn't give up the fight and I said to them at half-time to go out and do something about it.

"I thought they responded magnificently and so did the supporters."
