Former Swindon town winger Ricky Shakes has been handed a trial by new Brentford boss Terry Butcher.
22 year old Shakes, signed from Bolton Wanderers in June 2005 and made 77 appearances for Swindon before being dropped for the final run in last season by boss Paul Sturrock.
Speaking to the Swindon advertiser he said "I've had my first day at Brentford and everyone made me feel welcome and it was good fun. It is a relief that someone is interested in me and now I've been handed a chance it is up to me to show what I can do.
"The manager has indicated he wants to sign me permanently but it just depends on the chairman really and whether they can afford to offer me a deal.
"Obviously they got relegated last season but I think, like Town have just done, they will be looking to go straight back up."
