Brentford and their new manager got off to the perfect start in League One as they defeated Blackpool in the first game of the new season.

Leroy Rosenior's boys were ahead through a goal from Oli Skulason in the second half and they were helped out by some excellent goalkeeping from debutant Clark Masters as the Griffin Park faithful were treated to some 'real football' as their manager had promised.

The Bees post season was disrupted largely by player exits and off the field worries but the team came good in the sunshine this afternoon. Brentford started with Masters in goal and debutants, Heywood, Charles, Pinault and Kuffour on the pitch. Gavin Tomlins, signed in the close season was also given a run out as a substitute later in the game.

After the game bees supporters celebrated on day one as they did last season but Leroy Rosenior will be looking to keep up the good start against Northampton on Tuesday.

"From the moment ive been here Oli has been top quality. It's been a long road to recovery and it's like having a new signing."
