Just who is Leroy Rosenior?

With the announcement today that Brentford will be managed by Leroy Rosenior, fanzone decided to probe a little more into the man that Brentford players will call 'Gaffer'.

5 Facts on Leroy

- Leroy joined from Shrewsbury Town, where he was first team coach
- He is a London born and played as a striker during his playing days
- During his career he represented Fulham, QPR, West Ham and Bristol City, he also works as a pundit on Five Live
- He picked up honours from England at Under 21 Level and from Sierra Leone at full Internation level
-As well as guiding Torquay to promotion in 2004 he has coached at Bristol City, Gloucester and Merthyr.


As well as having an excellent coaching and management reputation his son Liam plays for Fulham and he has spent much time working at the academy there.

Born in South London in 1964 the management credentials at such a young age for Leroy are excellent, his career achievements speak for themselves.

Playing Days

At Fulham he was named young player of the year in 1982 and in 1986/7 as well as being named player of the year in 1987. During this season he was amongst the top scorers in Division one netting 27 goals, at this period he was selected to player for England at U-21 Level.

At QPR he played in the League Cup final in 1986 and for West Ham he was a league cup semi finalist in 1987/88 and an FA Cup semi finalist in a sucessful campaign in 1988/89.

His playing days at the top level ended in 1992 when he ended the season as Bristol City's top scorer. He returned to the International stage in 1994 during Sierra Leone's African Nations Cup campaign.

The Brentford hot seat is another in a list of long management appointments which Leroy has had.
