Tranmere 1 - 4 Brentford

After winning through in the FA Cup with a close run game against Oldham, Brentford made light work of their League One opponents this afternoon with a 4-1 win at strugglers Tranmere.

The Prenton Park side who challenged for the title last season were brushed aside rather easier this year as the Bees claimed their fifth win in eight games to extend their unbeaten run to eleven League and Cup games.

What the manager said?

Martin Allen was once again delighted with his sides application and effort that earnt them a hard earned road victory today,

"Our finishing was outstanding today, I think the scoreline was a bit harsh on them but we certainly deserved the victory"

"As usual I'm not going to go overboard, after all it was just another three points, but the way we played today was something I have been looking for the whole season"


On goalscorer Ricky Newman he said,

"Yeah, of course I'm pleased, he gave a captain's performance and it'll be a shame to be without him in our next game"

What the players said?

Scoring again today Lloyd Owusu said,

"It was another tough game, but we made it simple by scoring early. I think the breakthrough really helped our confidence"

"The boys are on a high at the moment, the way we are playing, we feel like we are going to do well in every game we play"


Bees defender Kevin O'Connor also was on the scoresheet said,

"It's been a great week for us, two wins in two different competitions is excellent, I just hope we can keep this run up over the heavily congested Christmas period."

What the fans said?

Clive Barker a Tranmere fan said,

"We were appauling today, we didnt show up, from the first minute to the last Brentford were the better side"

Thomas Masters a delighted Bee said,

"The 4-1 scoreline was a little flattering but the confidence it will give the team is immense, up to third we go and they can do no wrong at the moment. Long may it continue"
