Aaron Hickey attracting interest from Premier League & Europe

Scottish starlet Aaron Hickey has attracted interest from each of the Premier League's big six, all of whom have sent scouts to track the 19-year-old Bologna left-back this season.

Hickey was signed by Bologna in 2020 when they beat a number of clubs to take him from Hearts, and he has earned plenty of praise in Italy with some excellent work on both sides of defence.

Sources have confirmed to 90min that Premier League scouts have been flocking to check on Hickey, with some recruitment chiefs seeing the teenager as a 'unique' talent because of his ability with both feet.

A source with knowledge of the player told us: “Hickey is a top talent, almost unique in that he can play equally well on either side – but that is because he is as good with both feet, some scouts have compared him to Irish legend Denis Irwin, but with better feet!”

90min understands that Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham have all been monitoring Hickey's development, while there has also been interest from West Ham, Leicester, Leeds, Brighton, Southampton and Brentford.

Hickey is believed to be happy with life in Serie A, but the Scot sees a switch the Premier League as the next move in his career.

However, there is also interest in keeping him in Italy, with Juventus and Napoli both impressed by his performances, and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have also been watching Hickey's development.

Hickey, who has two years remaining on his current deal at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, was recently handed his maiden call-up to Steve Clarke's Scotland squad as a reward for his excellent form.
