Aftermath of the Sheffield Wednesday game...

1400 Bees fans made the near 350 miles round trip to Sheffield last night, all that travelled were clearly optimistic before the game and disapointed afterwards as the Bees played within themsleves and were defeated on 1-0, we heard from the players and staff as usual.

What the manager said?

Martin Allen but a brave face on things as he admitted that his side didnt play to their full potential,

"It was a tremendous atmosphere that the boys played in last night, we didnt really get started but in the second half we held onto it a bit better and limited their oppertunities"

"I didnt really think about settling for one nil but i'm sure the football wasn't the greatest to watch but it's not over"

Ahead of mondays return leg the boss said,

"If we'd have gone 2-0 then I would be disapointed, it's going to be a special night and our 'old fashioned' place is sure to be packed and I hope the fans back the team big time"

What the players said?

Stuart Nelson who was arguably the busiest man on the field also spoke to us,

"We didnt really get going until the 2nd half, we knew they'd come at us and it was just a case of defending and making the most of our oppertunities which rarely came in the end"

Marcus Gayle commented,

"Its only half time, we've got to look at it that way, in the second leg if we get an early goal then we're right back in it, I don't think they boys will be too pleased with their performance and they'll be looking to put it right on monday."

Jay Tabb also said,

"The game summed up our season really, we were always on the back foot but the manager had a plan and we'll only really see if it worked when the second legs over"
