Aftermath of the Wrexham game...

On a suberb night in North Wales, the mighty Brentford came from 1-0 down after an early own goal by Eddie Hutchinson to finally steal the game in the final minute through a superb strike by Scott Fitzgerald which added to an earlier goal by Isaiah Rankin.

The win sadly saw Wrexham finally be beaten by the 10 point penalty which had been imposed on them earlier this season, while the away team propelled themselves into 5th place and therefore secured the play off place they have been chasing for the last 4 weeks.

A memorable encounter between the two sides and as usual we hear from the major people involved with the game.

What the manager said?
Martin Allen praised his team for their efforts on the pitch,

"The last couple of weeks have been tough, we've not been taking the chances given to secure a top 6th finish, but finally tonight we've done it, I'm pleased for the boys they did well to come back and win that game after the early set back"

He went onto say,

"It's important that we don't get too carried away with ourselves though, apart from making the playoffs we've done nothing, the hard work continues on saturday and will continue until the last minute of the last game which will hopefully be in Cardiff"

What the players said?
Deon Burton spoke to us after the game and he echoed the thoughts of the manager,

"Obviously we're delighted to have made it into the play offs but we can't start celebrating anything yet, we know the hard work it still to come and we still have one league game left"

'Goal Hero' Scott Fitzgerald also had a word with us,

"It's nice to score a goal, especially in such a vital match, we worked hard today and we definetely deserved 3 points, we haven't had too many away victories this season but this is very satisfiying for us"

Stuart Nelson told us,

"It's good the way we came back into the game, even when the chances weren't coming we still played our game cos we knew eventually that we'd get one, it was just a matter of time, the boys didn't panic and we deserved the points in the end"

What the media said?

BBC.co.uk - 'In a close contest Brentford edged out an unlucky Wrexham side who were finally condemmed to relegation, even after the home side took the lead, Martin Allen's team looked comfortable in posession and took their chances well"

Teamtalk.com - 'After weeks of scrambling for points the Bees added a full stop to talk of them missing out on the play offs with an impressive display, their passing was good and they played patient football as Wrexham attempted to cling on to the slender one goal advantage.

ESPN.com - 'A good performance from Brentford, hurtled them into the play offs. Their comfortable mix of posession and long ball was too much for Wrexham who crumbled under the pressure'

Griffinpark.org - 'Brentford bad form from recent weeks nearly came back to haunt them, two pieces of real quality football in the end though proved to be the dragons undoing as the Bees quality came through in a second half which they dominated'
