Aftermath to the Luton Game....

Although 4-2 sounds like the league champions had a comrotable victory over the brave Bees today, anyone who saw the game will tell you that Luton can count themselves fortunate to have come away with a point never mind all three.

A closely fought game at Kenilworth Road saw the Bees go down to an 11th away defeat of the season this one gave the travelling Brentford support something to cheer about for a vast majority of the game. As usual we heard from the main 'players' in the game.

What those involved said?
As ever Martin Allen was phylosophical after the game saying,

"It was a cracking game and our players gave a great account of themselves. None of the players let us down - they never do, but today it wasn’t enough. We played well – you can’t knock them when they do that."

Despite his side losing a 2-1 defeat th boss said,

"I wont have any problem lifting them for Tuesday – I will just get on with it. We could have passed the ball better, but again playing under pressure and defending the lead is not easy. It takes time to do it, dealing and coping and playing at places like this against good teams. They will be better for it"

The players echoed the same thoughts, first we spoke to Stuart Nelson who told us,

"Luton are a good side, they aren't champions for nothing but we gave them a good game, we weren't coming here to just show our faces, I thought we battled hard and it's difficult to understand how we didn't get anything from this game."

Opposition manager Mike Newell also admitted his side were slightly fortunate,

"Although I'm obviously delighted with another three points, I take me hat off to Brentford as they certainly made us work for it, playing like that they deserve to be in the playoffs"

We also spoke to Michael Turner after the game who said,

"We played well today but they managed to score goals at the crucial time, we move on though, if we win against Wrexham midweek then our recent run of disapointing results will be forgotten"

What the 'experts' said?

BBC.co.uk - 'Luton played well but have fortune to thank for the 4-2 scoreline which was highly flattering, Brentford had the better of the chances but didnt make the most out of their posession which turned out to be costly"

Teamtalk.com - 'Although the Bees were on top for long periods of time, their passing was sluggish and it always seemed as though Luton would score as the away team tried to impose themselves physically from the first whistle but ended up being undone by the classier side'

ESPN.com - 'Brentford took their chances well but always looked second best to a confident Luton side who's quality shone through in the end'

Griffinpark.org - 'The away side played well under pressure throughout the game and held out for a long period of time despite immense pressure from the champions who's finishing was far superior than that of the Bees who have been struggling offensively all season'
