After reports in conflicting media suggested over the last few days that Martin Allen's days as Brentford manager were number, the club pretty much confirmed that Martin's official departure could be a step closer after releasing a press statement about the management situation.

It is believed that Allen had wanted to resign but had not officially done so and because of this the club was hoping for him to change his mind, but not even last minute talks look to be able to continue his tenure as bees manager,

"While Martin Allen is still under contract to Brentford Football Club he has now made it clear to us that he does not wish to be the manager next season"

"After prolonged discussions with Martin we have accepted this position and put in place a search for a new manager."

The statement however continued,

"If other clubs seek our permission to talk to Martin about a managerial position we are prepared to agree to this as long as Brentford Football Club recieves the appropriare compensation if he is appointed"

The club also confirmed that there had been no contact from any clubs as yet and that Allen's resignation was handed in today.
