Despite speculation surrounding his future at the West London club Martin Allen made some decisions today in preparation for next season, releasing several players and making others available for transfer.

The Griffin Park boss said last week after a defeat to Sheffield Wednesday meant we would be staying in League One this season that he needed to make some changes and true to his word the boss has revealed those today.

"I've had to make difficult decisions but must do what I feel is best for Brentford Football Club."

The boss first axed Jamie Lawrence, Deon Burton, John Salako, Stephen Hunt, Scott P Fitzgerald and Andy Myers who were told this morning that their contracts would not be renewed.

Club captain Stewart Talbot has informed Allen he wishes to move back to the north of England and will be given a free transfer should he find a new club. Also made available for transfer has been Matt Harold who had a spell at Grimbsy this season whilst Sobers and Pratley have returned to their respective clubs after loan spells at the Bees.

Marcus Gayle however has been offered a new one year, pay as you play deal. Speaking to the press Martin Allen said,

"All these players have done very well for this football club. Stephen Hunt will be invited back to pre-season training should he not find a club to prove his fitness and I will continue to review the situation with Deon Burton."

Currently the squad has 13 professionals officially signed on so Allen looks set to be preparing readily for next season.

But the boss stated,

"I will continue with the rebuilding programme that I set out to do 14 months ago with the help of my staff."
