Antonio Conte praises Christian Eriksen's performance in Tottenham draw with Brentford

Antonio Conte praised the performance of Brentford's Christian Eriksen in the 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.

In a rather drab affair at the Brentford Community Stadium, Eriksen proved to be a shining light. The Danish midfielder showed his class throughout and was the player who looked the most likely to create something during the boring 0-0 draw.

Speaking to the press after the game, Antonio Conte was quick to praise Eriksen for his performance: "I have seen Christian in fantastic form. We are talking about a really good player, great quality. He uses two feet in the same way and is very dangerous in free-kick and corners.

"I am pleased to see him, especially after what happened. Brentford gave him a possibility to play again and for this reason Brentford deserve to enjoy this type of game with him."

Conte previously managed Eriksen at Inter prior to the midfielder being fitted with an ICD following his cardiac arrest in June 2021, with Serie A rules prohibiting players from competing with such a device.

90min understand that Conte could be set to manage the Danish international again in the near future as Tottenham are confident they will re-sign Christian Eriksen on a free transfer this summer

Any deal however hinges on two things: Conte staying at the club and Tottenham securing Champions League football.

The latter was dealt a huge blow with the draw at Brentford as Spurs now sit in fifth place, two points behind arch rivals Arsenal with just five games to go.
