Bees boss looking to protect Owusu

Still smarting from the performance of his team during the week, Brentford manager Scott Fitzgerald told supporters that he is not willing to risk the fitness of striker Lloyd Owusu in a bid to help the club battle relegation.

The striker came on for the final twenty minutes of the game against Rotherham at the weekend and Fiztgerald said,

"I was hoping to bring him on for the last ten minutes, but if I could I would have brought him on after the first ten, it was that kind of performance."

He did however go onto claim,

"Lloyd is not fit enough to start a game yet though and I won't risk his health to 'save' our season."

Fiztgerald and Brentford are expected to welcome back Jo Kuffour to the line up after the top scorer finished serving a three game suspension but the manager refused to comment on partnering last seasons top scorer with the campaigns current leading goal getter.

Still clearly dissapointed with the weekends result Fiztgerald warned his players,

"Unless we start pulling our fingers out, it's going to be eight long games to the end of our season. At the weekend the players didn't show me quality or commitment and that must change."
