Bees skipper hails Butcher appointment

By Smallsy
Thursday, 26th April 2007
Kevin O'Connor believes Brentford have made a 'step in the right direction' in appointing the ex-England captain.
Going into thier penultimate game of the League season, Brentford an their fans will have recieved a small boost this week as Terry Butcher was announced as the clubs new manager for next season.

Greg Dyke commented upon the appointment of Butcher that he felt it was a 'positive move' and now Kevin O'Connor has backed the ex-England supremo to bring the 'good times' back to Brentford.

O'Connor said,

"Terry Butcher was a brilliant player, he has good experience, so I hope he can bring these qualities into managing us."

"Everyone remembers the image of Terry's blood-stained shirt when he was playing for England, and I think it's a great appointment for the club."

O'Connor continued,

"Was I surprised? After the season we've had, nothing would surprise me any more, so I was more impressed than surprised when I heard the news."

"It wouldn't be right to say the news means we end the season on a high, but perhaps we are not as low as we might have been otherwise."
