Big Ben wants out?

Last updated : 08 February 2002 By
Ben has allegedly said "I needed first-team football and Graeme Souness made it clear that wasn't going to happen at Blackburn so he sent me out on loan."

"My decision to come to Brentford was largely down to Steve Coppell, he came to watch me in the reserves for Blackburn and took time out to speak to me and persuaded me it would be a good move.

"It looks like I will have to move away from Blackburn to get first-team football. I've twice been sent out on loan and am starting to take the hint.

"I am enjoying myself at Brentford and am concentrating on doing well for them. I don't know if they want me after the end of the season, we will have to see.

"I don't know if I'll return north, but I'm ready to play anywhere to get first-team football if I think it's a good move."

Despite Bens comments, a permanent move to the Bees is unlikely after recent goings on at the club which has seen Jason Price sign for promotion rivals Tranmere & Oli Gottskalkson handed a free transfer and has been linked with a number of top teams.

This will be a real shame as Ben, recently linked with a £500,000 bid by Stockport County, has been one of the main reasons that the Bees are around the play off positons.
