Brentford 0 - 1 Doncaster

Suffering yet another frustrating home defeat, Brentford's automatic promotion hopes looked in real doubt as the club went down to a 1-0 defeat beaten by a Sean Thornton goal, the Bees slid to third places and face a real battle to cling onto their hopes of not having to go through the lottery of the plays offs for a second season in a row.

Thorton's goal came during a stormy game which could have gone either way, the goalscorer looked dangerous all game and his strike from the age of the area was fair reward for a man of the match performance.

For Brentford, it means another re-grouping session during the week and a prehaps a couple of changes to freshen up what looks like a stale and lifeless team.

What the manager said?
As usual the Brentford manager looked to take something positive from the game,

"Yet again we created plenty of chances and I think we were unlucky to lose"

"At the moment we're not on an ideal run going into the end of the season, but our heads won't go down. It'll simply take a few good results and some hard work to turn it around"

What the players said?
As the players applauded their supporters of the pitch, it was difficult to see a positive look on a red and white shirted face.

Marcus Gayle started by stating his disapointment at today's defeat,

"I think we put in an average performance"

"It could have gone either way and we didn't take out chances well enough to deserve the victory"

Captain Ricky Newman said,

"Of course as a team we're determined to get things right. We've got a huge determination in this camp and we want to do well"

What the fans said?
Bees supporters vented their frustrations after the final whistle but Mark Price said,

"We've still got a game in hand and I'm not worried about not making the playoffs. If we win our next two games we'll be right back in the frame for automatic promotion"
