Brentford's run in the League Cup ended at the second stage as Luton Town of the Championship left Griffin Park with a 3-0 reverse of the home side.

Dean Morgan scored in the 10th minute before Warren Feeney added a second within ten minutes of the second half and ex-bee Rowan Vine put the icing on the cake with the final kick of the game. A dramatic second half saw a player dismissed from each side and Bees manager Leroy Rosenior being expelled to the stands after an altercation with the fourth official and the referee.

The game started at a slow pace as Brentford came to terms with the superior quality of their upper League opponents. The bees created a few chances with Jo Kuffour struggling to get into the game and Paul Brooker looking to take the game to Luton.

As the game headed into the main portion the bees dallied on the ball in the centre of the field before Morgan was played through and tapped the ball past Stuart Nelson after a one on one situation. The bees looked to get back into the game but could not come break down the well organised defense of Luton.

With O'Connor and Griffiths missing Osborne and Charles looked to fill void of experience but looked nervous when pressured by Boyd and Morgan. Brentford did however have an excellent chance through Kuffour however the ball was cleared off the line and the resulting shot was scrambled away by the defense.

Kuffour continued to threaten but the defense held firm and Luton looked the more likely to score. Sam Tillen found himself time after time with space down the left hand side but was unable to be found by his team mates. Paul Brooker on the other side of the pitch did well when he was given the ball but the ability of his marker prevented him from creating anything of note.

In the second half, Brentford started well but were once again unable to break down the Luton defense. On the counter attack once more Edwards ghosted down the right and crossed the ball for Feeney to tap into an unguarded net.

The bees looked decidedly beaten but managed to create a little bit more through the introduction of Callum Willock. The much maligned striker held the ball up well and helped create a potential penalty situation for Jo Kuffour who appeared to have his legs taken away from him.

The referee however waved bees penalty claims away as Luton, through Edwards nearly hit a third on the breakaway. The bees began to become frustrated and Osbourne was lucky to stay on the pitch after pushing and then stamping on a Luton defender. Leroy Rosenior was then dismissed from the touchline after arguing with the referee over a number of decisions going against his club.

As the game decended into ridicule, as Brentford substitute Moore was sent off after an abysmal and needless tackle on the half way line on Rowan Vine.

Retaliating after being sythed down the reaction of Vine sparked a 20 man brawl broke with club officials being embroiled in the scuffle. When the players were pulled apart Moore was sent from the pitch and inexplicably applauded by bees fans for his stupidity.

The game dropped in quality far beyond belief as Brentford decended their tactics into nothing more than thugary, the quality of Luton then began to show through as despite their opponents negative approach to the game the Hatters began to dominate posession and looked like scoring everytime they went forward.

Bees fans beyed for blood and were seemingly rewarded when Barnett was dismissed for nothing more than an innocent clash with Willock. The Bees striker, chasing the ball through the back four, was brought down with the referee deeming the offense to be committed by the last man.

It mattered not as Luton showed their class with a well worked third goal, shortly beforehand the scorer himself Vine had a goal chalked off for offside but he made no mistake with his second chance of the game, slotting home nicely after a pass from Langley.

At the final whistle Bees fans jeered the referee as Leroy Rosenior and his players rushed over to the official to vent their agression, for another season however Brentford bowed out of the League Cup.
