Brentford 1 - 1 Blackpool

Brentford once more limped a step closer to a playoff place as Blackpool stole away from Griffin Park with a point despite suffering great domination throughout the ninety minutes. The bees forward line once again toiled in the afternoon sun as chances a plenty went to waste.

To double the Bees misery they have now fallen to third place after Colchester found a victory in the midst of their poor form to over take Brentford and slot in nicely behind local rivals Southend who themselves drew but are still well clear of the chasing pack.

What the manager said?
Martin Allen was somewhat downbeat speaking to the BBC after the game,

"I thought the players performed well today and no doubt we deserved the win. But at times like these there are nerves and we were undone by a killer last minute blow"

"Today was good in all but the result because I asked for an improvement from my players and I think I got that."

Speaking on the season itself and the race for promotion he said,

"It's difficult to enjoy the evening, but we're not going to hide. There's still a chance for us to have a big season and in our final three games we'll be looking to finish strongly."

What the players said?
After putting in a performance of merit infront of a large Griffin Park crowd the players were noticably disheartened by the last minute equaliser conceeded to the away team. Subsititute Darren Pratley said,

"We were so close to a morale boosting victory and we should have won this game by a long way"

Goalkeeper Stuart Nelson echoed his thoughts suggesting that the game should have been out of sight,

"We dominated both halves."

"We had a bag full of chances and it's disapointing that we couldnt take at least two more of them to have made the game safe."

What the fans said?
Upon the final whistle the supporters mood around Griffin Park had long changed from two hours earlier when optimism was seemingly in the air,

"If we dont get promotion now we've thrown it away" said Peter Speed a disapointed Brentford fan.

"No win in six is not good enough"

Another angry fan Gayle Troeden said,

"We cant finish our chances and therefore we didnt deserve to win the game, though we dominated for 99% of the game, we should know better than to expect a win while the score is 1-0. Another frutrating day at the office for Brentford."
