Brentford add date to pre-season calender

Brentford fans minds may be forgiven from wondering far from the 2006/07 season coming up, after all there is a World Cup on the way and with events surrounding the manager it is sometimes difficult to remember that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

As preparation for the season to come, the players (new manager and all) will be tested by very similar opposition to that of the 2005/06 season. These similarities were today added to by Brentford announcing that they will be taking on Crawley Town on Saturday 29th July.

Last year the Bees suffered during pre season, putting in several lacklustre performances and had a good season, so perhaps this season Brentford fans should be crossing their fingers for four defeats on the and perhaps automatic promotion will ensue!
As ever we will provide you with more details on the fixtures as we receive them.

Also on the manager front, though as expected the didn't turn up in the Ipswich job this morning, there are fresh rumours coming from the press that Martin Allen is interested in taking charge of Northampton Town, who were promoted from League Two.

Though seen as a backwards step by many, Northampton have a great reputation (including a Chairman with lots of money!) and Allen could be exactly what the towns sleeping giant might need.
