Despite a defeat to Scunthorpe at the weekend on the field, Brentford's of the field exploits were rewarded yesterday at the second annual Football League Awards.

Brentford Football Club claimed the prize for the 'Best Club Sponsorship Award' thanks to the long standing partnership between the Community Sports Trust, St George and the club itself.

The Bees almost made it a double as they were pipped at the post in two other awards.

Ian Dobie, Managing Director of St. George commented,

"This is a best-in-class example of how a strategic alliance can work for the benefit of the club."

Bees managing Director Keith Dickens commented,

"It's one of those alliance where everyone wins; St. George build their awareness, the local community benefit because of our community sports trust and our club can engage youngsters in The Brentford Spirit. A role model for how football, business and the community can work together."

Club Community Sports Trust Chief Exec. Lee Doyle also said a few words to the official website,

"We won the award last year and to claim it this year shows the relationship between the Club and it's community."

"The partnership between us is in it's sixth year and I'm delighted for Ian Dobie. He gives his time free of charge, like a lot of people involved in our community schemes do, and this award is recognition of the efforts that they have all put in.
