Brentford have confirmed the signing of Ben Mee on a free transfer following the expiration of his Burnley contract.
Mee brought a decade at Turf Moor to an end this summer, finishing his Clarets career as part of their interim management team after Sean Dyche was dismissed.
Despite a late surge, Burnley fell just short of Premier League survival last campaign and the 32-year-old was among a number of players to be released at the end of the season.
He has not had any issues finding a top-flight suitor though, with Brentford confirming his arrival on Friday.
Speaking to the club's website, Thomas Frank said: “I am very happy that we have signed Ben. He will add a lot of quality and experience to the squad.
"He had six good years for Burnley in the Premier League. I really love his defensive mindset; he knows how to defend the box, he knows how to block a shot and he knows how to win duels.
“He will bring leadership and communication to the team, which is very attractive. He has a very good left foot and will be very good for us on set-pieces in both boxes. I am looking forward to adding him to the squad.”
Mee becomes the Bees' fourth signing of the summer, after Keane Lewis-Potter, Aaron Hickey and Thomas Strakosha.
