Brentford lose interest in non-league strikers

Brentford manager Wally Downes is set to turn his attention to strikers with more league experience after failing to convince Eastbourne Borough’s prolific forward, Scott Ramsey, of a move to Griffin Park.

Ramsey: Rejected move
The Brentford manager was willing to table a £25,000 bid for the prolific goalscorer, who bagged 38 goals in 54 appearances last season as the Sussex club gained promotion to the Dr Martens Premier Division.

However, the 22-year-old non-league player appears content to remain with the Langney Sports club outfit and ply his trade outside of the football league.

Meanwhile, the club have also confirmed they will not be pursuing their interest in Solihull Borough striker, Andy Corbett.

Brentford chief scout John Griffin, speaking to the Richmond & Twickenham Times confirmed,

“We checked Corbett out and felt that he would find it hard to adjust to the standard of Second Division football."
