Brentford seeking new management

After a confirmation of the clubs relegation yesterday with the 3-1 defeat against Crewe, the first noises out of Griffin Park ahead of League Two next season came this afternoon as Chairman Greg Dyke announced the departure of Scott Fiztgerald as the clubs manager.

Moving up from youth team coach to caretaker before taking the role on in a full time capacity it was expected that Fiztgerald would depart with his contract only short term and dependent on survival.

Dyke said,

"We plan to appoint a near manager in the near future and in the mean time Barry Quin, head of youth development will be in charge."

The chairman did state however that Quin will not be a candidate foe the job full time. In his statement to the official website Greg Dyke continued,

"The best thing we can say about the season is that it is now effectively over and we are sorry it has been such a disaster. The entire focus is now on next season and rebuilding."

Sounding positive on the clubs hope of coming back up to League One he said,

"It is encouraging that all four clubs relegated from League One least season are contenders for promotion this year and hopefully we can match that performance."

Following a dreadful campaign in which the bees sit adrift at the bottom of the table he said,

"As a board we would like to thank the fans who have stayed loyal to Brenford at such a difficult time."
