So soon after announcing the 'retained list' for next season, Brentford manager Terry Butcher announced to the official website that he had made his first signing as Brentford manager this afternoon bringing in John Mackie from Leyton Orient.

Signing on a two year deal the former O's captain is a central defender and has also played for Premiership Reading.

Butcher said,

"He's a strong leader who has captained a Club to promotion from League Two and he will be a good influence on the younger pros. He is a winner who is prepared to put his body on the line and is exactly the type of player we are looking for."

The Bees manager refused to name names but stated that 'all being well another signing will be made tomorrow'.
