Brentford are clearly yet to feel the pinch of DJ Campbell's transfer to Birmingham City but the player has been speaking today about his delight at being given a transfer to the Premiership though he was disapointed that his time at Brentford was so short lived.

Recalling the events to BBC.co.uk of his suprise move to the second city he said,

"I was shocked"

"I recieved a call from Mr Allen and he said Birmingham has been in contact about me"

"It came out of the blue"

This came after Campbell's fantastic performance against Sunderland where he scored both goals in a 2-1 win at Griffin Park.

At 6pm Cambell first heard the official word that Birmingham were interested and he was grateful to Martin Allen that he was given the chance to show what he could do on the biggest stage,

"If I was to join it would have to happen quickly, Martin Allen told me that he would accept the deal and let me go play in the Premiership"

"Brentford didn't have to let me go. Whether the money was to big to turn down I don't know but I am thankful to them either way a even in my short time at Birmingham I've had so much fun."

At Yeading the young striker trained twice a week but now he reports that he feels his time at brentford helped prepare him effectively for this move,

"I spent time training on my own at Brentford to deal with the demands of first team football at the professional level."

"I have got to be on it 24/7 now because I am training with World Class players and learning stuff from them everyday."

Campbell was on the field as his new side went 2-0 down to Arsenal and his old side won 5-0 at home to Walsall and Campbell says he will be keeping in touch with the Bees fortunes,

"Obviously I'd have loved to stay at Griffin Park, that was the area of the country where I'm from and this is all very different for me but it's a challenge."

"I'll be keeping in touch with some of the players at the club and hopefully we will meet again sometime soo whether it be in the Cup or the League."
