Christian Eriksen has said his return to international football was "perfect" after scoring from the bench in his first game for Denmark since suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.
The midfielder recently made his comeback at club level with Brentford in the Premier League, having missed over half a year of football following the incident in a game against Finland at Parken Stadium.
On Saturday he made a long-awaited return at international level too, winning his 110th cap and scoring with his first touch of the ball after coming off the bench in Denmark's 4-2 defeat to the Netherlands.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Eriksen thanked the fans at Johan Cruyff Arena for a wonderful reception when he came on.
"I felt very welcome," he said. "I've been here before [for Ajax] for many years so of course they know me, but it was a very heart-warming reception for sure.
"I was happy the ball came to me and of course, it was a lovely finish. To start the comeback in international football like this was the perfect way.
"I'm looking forward to playing at the Qatar World Cup but there are a lot of games in between and I'm focused on them."
The midfielder also took to Twitter after the game to write: "Can’t say how much I’ve missed this feeling!"
