Christian Eriksen to make return to competitive football in Brentford's clash with Newcastle

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has confirmed Christian Eriksen will make his return to competitive football in Saturday's Premier League match at home to Newcastle.

The midfielder has not played a professional game since suffering a cardiac arrest while on international duty with Denmark at Euro 2020 last summer.

After being fitted with an ICD, he had to leave Inter since Italian rules did not permit footballers to compete with one, and signed for Brentford on deadline day of the January 2022 transfer window.

Eriksen has made two appearances for the Bees in behind-closed-doors friendlies with Southend and Rangers, and Frank has revealed the 30-year-old will make his long-awaited return to competitive action on Saturday.
