Goalkeepers beware! After the controversy over the footballs used in the Premiership last season, with keepers complaining that the new balls swerved and dipped too much, the Coca Cola Leagues could could be hearing the same complaints in 2005/06.

The official sponsor and supplier of footballs to the League for God knows how long will launch their new football in the new season. The Pro 100T will be used in Coca Cola League football, the Carling Cup and LDV Vans Trophy.

A Mitre spokesperson said,

"The ball is faster, has a larger sweetspot and is more controllable, with speeds recorded of over 100mph"

The 26-panel seam allows the balls aerodynamics to be controlled better by players.

The spokesman continued,

"The pro 100t gives control back to the players. on average it takes four years for us to develop a new professional match ball so needless to say we are already working on the next batch, but we will see over this season where possible developments can be made."

The ball is set to debut at Brentford in August against Scunthorpe.
