Terry Butcher is left without the use of midfielder Craig Pead after the former Walsall player tore ankle ligaments in the friendly match against Hampton.
It represents something of a setback for Butcher, who is using a number of trialists to try and find a formula for success. Brentford have so far played four friendly matches against lower league opposition and have yet to record a victory.
Pead is expected to be out for around eight weeks but this will be monitored and updated as and when new information becomes available.
