With two defeats in two games, Brentford's mini revival it seems has gone quiet again as they look forward to facing bottom side Rotherham knowing only a victory will be good enough to keep their survival hopes alive.

Still six points from safety, Brentford were beaten 1-0 by Bristol City in a close game, but manager Scott Fitzgerald refused to blame his players after being condemed to another league defeat,

"I thought the penalty was harsh and I told the referee that"

The boss continued,

"The ref told me that Kevin had blocked a goal-bound shot so it had to be handball."

"I thought there had to be some intention to handle. The ball has just struck Kevin and if it is a penalty just because the shot is on target, that is a new rule to me."

Scott Fiztgerald felt that his side were once again left to rue a bad start, confounded by the awarding of a penalty but was optimistic looking to their next game,

"I was bitterly disappointed with the way we started the game. But after that the result was never the foregone conclusion many expected.

"We now face a massive game against Rotherham and no player should need motivating for that."
