Fitzgerald fires parting shot

With the Bees fate finally sealed and hours before departing his job Scott Fitzgerald offered a damning verdict on his final game in charge.

The former Bees boss described the job as 'the hardest thing I've ever gone through' and stated he 'wished things were different'. Non the less Fitzgerald was angry with the way Brentford played in what proved to be the game which confirmed their relegation,

"The performance was desperate and at one stage in the first half I thought it would be a cricket score."

He was dissapointed that the fight which his players have shown in recent weeks had dissapeared,

"The players performed as though they thought they were relegated and to concede the goals we have week in week out is tough to take.

"It's the same rubbish every week. I don't think the players are good enough and I'll take some of the responsibility because I brought some of them in.

"It's the first time I've been relegated in my career and I'm on the floor. If they think they can hang out for the last few weeks with a few easy days training, well that won't happen. They will have the hardest four weeks of their lives."
