Fitzgerald not interested in excuses

After admitting that he was upset at the referees first half decision to award a penalty against his team, the Brentford manager Scott Fitzgerald refused to blame the referee for the defeat to Bristol City.

The Bees manager offered no excuses for a second consecutive defeat and said,

"I keep talking about fine lines but the fine line is we are getting beat every week."

"The performance wasn't too bad" he said,

"But we can't keep saying we were unlucky of it was a referees decision as we get nothing for coming close or playing well, we keep getting beat and we need to change it."

The Brentford manager remained confident however that his side could rebound from getting no points in the last two games and stated,

"I'm never in any doubt about the character of the side. After a horrendous start we fought our way back into the game and they were hanging on towards the end."
