Speaking ahead of tomorrow's massive FA Cup tie at the Valley, Charlton defender Hermann Hreidarsson took time out to speak to the clubs official website.

Being a former Bee even thought it was a while ago now, he said that Brentford always had potential and he is glad to see they are finally reaching it. The Icelandic player said,

"I made the decision to drop down into the lower leagues with Brentford for a number of reasons really.

"But a big part of it was that the coach there was Ray Lewington, who had been at Palace and he taught me quite a lot in my first year in England. And Ron Noades who was the chairman there, was a big factor too - we became quite good friends.

"I was never in any doubt that we had a good team and would do well when I went there. We went on a really good run, nearly 30 games unbeaten I think.

"That's what English football is all about really. You start in the lower leagues, everyone wants to play in the Premiership, but to do that you have to work your way up the leagues.”

Looking forward to the tie as players of both clubs are he stated,

"We're expecting a very tough game,

”The way they've played this season, they're one of the top clubs in their division and they've got games in hand on the others at the top.

"They've been doing really well and they knocked out Sunderland in the last round of the cup, so we know it's going to be a tough game.

"It's nice to play at home and it's a good chance for us to progress into the next round. It should be a proper cup game I would have thought.

"We played Leyton Orient at The Valley a few weeks ago and that was a really good game - they played really well against us. I think teams from the lower leagues always raise their game on the day, but we're up for it as well.”
