Greg Dyke, the chairman of Brentford tonight admitted that he was 'sad' at the way in which Leroy Rosenior's reign as manager came to an end.

The Brentford official website is expecting a statement from the chairman soon but Sky Sports News managed to grab a word with the former BBC Supremo after the news broke,

"We have asked the head of the youth squad Scott Fitzgerald to take over in the meantime.

"Obviously we don't do these things out of the blue. We had been working on a plan B over the last few weeks in case Leroy had to go.

"There are still a lot of games to go and we are not halfway through the season. If get the right manager and a bit of luck with injuries we can stay up."

Rumours surrounding Rosenior's decision to quit are muting a potential 'mutual termination' of the former Torquay bosss contract after Dyke admitted also that his departure was prehaps 'in the clubs best interests'.
