After the release of five players so far this Summer and a transfer deal completed today of the fourth player sold from the Bees squad, Martin Allen's Brentford is looking very thin on the ground.

Oxford and Brentford today announced that the League Two club are set to sign midfielder Chris Hargreaves on a two year contract.

Allen had confirmed last week that Hargreaves would be making a decision about his future this week and the player who spent most of last season on the sidelines injured will join Oxford within the week after completing a medical.

Hargreaves relatively short Brentford career began last summer after a move from Northampton Town. However the 33 year old is leaving and Allen concluded that the player will probably end his career at the Kassam Stadium.

The boss said,

"I would've been happy for him to stay but I must look to improve my team and Chris must also look for security."

Oxford will be Hargreaves sixth club in his career previously playing for Northampton, Plymouth, Hull City and Grimbsy.
