Jay Tabb this evening left Brentford to fulfill his dream of playing at a higher level, signing a contract with Championship side Coventry City.

The midfielder's wish to play at the biggest stage had been granted by previous manager Martin Allen who placed him on the transfer list after the playoff defeat by Swansea in May.

Leroy Rosenior said,

"It's a shame to lose someone of such talent. When I arrived I was made aware of the situation and as much as we'd have like Jay to stay, I've had to do what's best for the club."

"I'm sure Brentford's players and fans would like to thank him for his years of service."

Coventry manager Micky Adams made Tabb his seventh Summer signing and said,

"He's rated as one of the brightest players in the League at the moment and I think his versitility is going to be a great asset to us."

"Jay has a level of maturity beyond his years and at 22, he undoubtedly has more time to grow as a player. He has shown his desire to progress in football through his impressive performances for Brentford and I have no doubt that he'll be an important part of our squad this season and beyond"
