Keane told the club's official website: "Tommy is playing games week in, week out and that is what going out on loan is all about.
"Sometimes a manager can be selfish and hold on to all his players but I like my players playing football.
"We're happy for him to stay at Brentford but it wouldn't surprise me if he was back here soon, maybe over the next few weeks. We'll see what happens."
