Latest on the playoffs

Coming into the final week of the Coca Cola League action in England, the top of League one looks to be heading for one of the most exciting races in history as 3 teams battle it out for two places at the top to gain a chance to join Hull and Luton in the Championship next season.

After securing our place on Tuesday we joined Tranmere in the 'definates' pile however everything is very much still up for grabs as the usual race for 6th place includes a battle for 4th and 5th as well.

Only the Merseyside clubs position is definate which makes the playoff picture very blurry at the moment and this weekends games will be crucial to determining where everybody finishes.

We've attempted to draw up a plan of how it looks at the moment:

Semi Final

One game will be played on Thursday 12th May and the other on Friday 13th May - both 7:45 kick offs

2nd Legs will be Monday 16th May or Tuesday 17th May - 7:45 Kick offs

Teams in play off contention

Tranmere (3rd Guarenteed)
Brentford (4th/5th/6th)
Sheff Wed (4th/5th/6th)
Hartlepool (4th/5th/6th)
Bournmouth(5th/6th)

*The positions in brackets are the potential positions that can be reached by each team

So at the moment the games are shaping up as:

First Leg:
6th vs Tranmere (3rd)
5th vs 4th

Second Leg:
(3rd)Tranmere vs 6th
4th vs 5th

*Dates and order of games to be decided by the Football League (and SKY TV)

Eventually:

Final at the Millenium Stadium, Sunday 29th May

Winner 4th/5th vs Winner 3rd/6th

There will be NO Away Goal Rule and if it goes to Extra Time, it will be straight 15 minute each way tie... NO GOLDEN/SILVER GOAL!!!

Ok.....Hope that's all clear as mud, we'll do the projections again this weekend when we find out who's in and who's not!
