During his latest column on the official website Martin Allen covered a side range of topics, the first was his thoughts on a performance by his side yesterday in a 3-1 win at Dagenham.

"During training today we discussed the good and bad points of yesterday's game, we took a while to get going but once we did I think we performed well" said the boss.

"Conditions were testing with it being so hot and our first half lacked energy but I'm pleased with the big improvement from the first two games. It's positive for me because all the players in the squad should believe that they are part of a winning team, competition for places will be tough and sub standard performances will mean missing out on the first team."

The next topic was the youth team, who won 2-1 yesterday in a game against North London rivals Tottenham under the control of Scott Fitzgerald. Allen said,

"There were many outstanding individual performances which is excellent for me and Scott as managers but of course our youth team beating Premiership opposition is a very good sign."

On a potential new player Allen said,

"My son George recommended to me a 19 year old, John Mesinho who played for England school boys and then went to college in America"

John is currently training with the club and has according to sources has looked lively and has good pace, it is not known yet whether he will be offered a contract by Brentford.
