After a 3-1 victory put Charlton into the quarter finals of the FA Cup, the BBC's flagship program Match of the Day gave their pundits the chance to give their opinions on todays game.

Johnathon Pearce's view...The comentator for the game gave the Brentford team plenty of credit for the way they played. He said,

"The away side passed the ball around nicely but just couldn't do enough to score more than one goal"

"They were denied space and chances by Charlton and it was probably a fair result on reflection"

Pearce also said,

"It is very typical of Brentford to give it all they had today. It was also typical of them to involve the supporters (referring to the draw alowing a fan to be in the dugout). It is certainly not the last we will hear of Brentford Football Club."

Martin Allen's post match interview...The brentford boss has done plenty of pieces of media but he simply summed up his feelings from several interviews he has given today,

"At half time I asked our players how much they wanted to make a name for themselves. They all responded positively but their theird goal took the life out of us."

Speaking on his players he said,

"People in the media always talk about Martin Allen's Brentford but it is the players who deserve all the credit. they are the ones who cross the white line and they are the one who fight the battles and they are the ones who put inthe hard work"

"Today I am a very proud manager"

"I enjoy all the parts of my job which make me a manager and I'm very happy where I am"

Alan Curbishley's post match interview...The victorious Charlton manager was understandably calm after defeating Brentford and said,

"We did all the hard work early on but when Brentford scored they made us sweat a little bit. We looked anxious and they were unlucky"

"All credit to Brentford's fans as well they gave the game a first class atmosphere and it was a top notch Cup tie."

Gavin Peacock's view...The BBC pundit believed that the Premiership sides quality showed through and he said that their finishing was at it's best. He said,

"Charlton played to the cup mentality, the did the 'ugly' things and scrapped hard to make sure that they get a foothold in the game."

Lee Dixon's view...The former Arsenal defender said,

"Brentford's defending was suspect at time today but it was difficult for them to play when Charlton were on top form"

"They never gave up however and should be praised extermely highly for that"
