On his official website this morning, Martin Allen spoke of his joy about heading back to what he calls the 'bread and butter' level of football.

However Allen's joy is cut short as he announced that captian Ricky Newman will be out for around six weeks. Newman will be undergoing an operation for an injury which the club are hoping will finally clear up a problem the midfielder has had for several months now.

"Of course it is a blow to us but it will make us stronger and our resolve even greater" said Allen.

He also announced that Marcus Gayle will be returning to training this weekend and it likely to play a part at Hampton on Monday.

As far as other injuries Allen said,

"Stuart Nelson trained today for the first time and I'm hoping he will be able to play at Hampton on Monday. Paul Brooker has not training and will not train for a few days as he has a sore groin"

Allen was hopefully that the three later players will have no re-occurance of injuries and will be fit to play next weekend.
